You are also consenting to BLG stripping your information of personal identifiers for use, in an aggregated form, to improve our student recruitment process. How to Enter to be eligible to win a Sony Laptop (the “Contest”)
1. No purchase necessary.
2. Entries may be made:
a. Online by completely filling out the survey and entry form on Borden Ladner Gervais LLP student web page at www.blgcanada.com/offer or www.blgcanada.com/students/welcome between 12:00 am on Monday September 8, 2008 and 11:59 pm on Tuesday September 30, 2008 (EST). To qualify for the prize draw the survey and contact details section must be filled out in its entirety, including name, email address, phone number and postal code, name of law school and year. A valid email address must be provided.
3. Only one entry per person. Participants making multiple entries will be disqualified. Entries that are fraudulent are not permitted and will be declared invalid. All entries that are incomplete, illegible, altered, mutilated, tampered with, submitted through illicit means, or do not conform to or satisfy any condition of these Contest rules will be declared invalid. All entries become the property of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (“BLG”) and will not be acknowledged or returned.
Who Can Enter
4. The Contest is open to residents of Canada only who are currently enrolled in a law program at a Canadian University and who have reached the age of majority on the date of entry in the jurisdiction in which they reside on the date of contest draw.
5. The Contest is not open to employees, officers, and directors of BLG, its advertising and promotion agencies, or its other representatives or agents, or anyone with whom any of the foregoing is domiciled.
The Prize
6. There is one (1) grand prize consisting of one (1) Sony VAIO Laptop valued at $799. The prize is non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and non-refundable.
7. BLG reserves the right to substitute a different prize, at its discretion, in whole or in part, with a prize of equivalent or greater retail value in the event a prize or a component thereof is not reasonably available.
Contest Draw
8. The Contest will run from 12:00 am on Monday September 8, 2008 to 11:59 pm on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 (EST). The Contest winner will be drawn from eligible entries in a draw to be held on or about 12:00pm Thursday, October 9, 2008 at BLG’s Montreal office at 1000 de la Gauchetiere St. West, Montreal, QC.
9. Following the draw, the selected entrant will be contacted at the email address provided in the Contest entry.
10. In order to be declared a winner, the selected entrant must:
a. respond to the prize notification email within 3 days (72 hours) of transmission;
b. correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question;
c. sign a declaration stating that he/she:
i. has read, understands and complies with the Contest Rules;
ii. releases and discharges BLG, the suppliers of prizes or services related to the Contest, and their
respective advertising, promotion and production agencies and other agents or representatives from
any liability in connection with the prize or the Contest.
11. Should the selected entrant fail to comply with any of the requirements set out in section 10, the prize will be automatically forfeited and another entrant will be selected by random draw.
12. The chances of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received.
Consent to Personal Information Use and Disclosure
13. By entering the Contest, participants consent to BLG’s collection, use and disclosure of the personal information provided in Contest entries for the administration of the Contest and in aggregated, non-personal form in order to create reports regarding Contest entrant demographics and media habits, which reports BLG may disclose to others.
14. Participants who indicate on their entry form that they wish to receive future information from BLG further consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of their personal information (including their email address) by BLG for the purpose of providing the future information. Signing-up for future information will not affect the odds of winning.
Disclaimer and Liability Exclusion
15. BLG, the suppliers of prizes or services related to the Contest, and their respective advertising, promotion and production agencies and other agents or representatives will not, under any circumstances, be responsible for, or liable to any Contest entrant.
16. The winner, by acceptance of his/her prizes, agrees to release BLG, and its advertising, promotion and production agencies and other agents or representatives from any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership or use of the prize or while preparing for, participating in, and/or traveling to any prize-related activity.
Other Matters
17. If for any reason the Contest is not capable of being conducted as intended by BLG, due to, but not limited to, computer viruses, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other cause that corrupts or interferes with the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, BLG may, at its sole discretion, disqualify any entrant responsible for such misconduct and cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest, subject to the approval of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux.
18. Any attempt to deliberately damage any web site or interfere with the legitimate operation of the contest may be a violation of criminal and civil laws, and BLG reserves the right to seek damages and/or relief from all responsible persons to the fullest extent permitted by law.
19. Return of any prize notification email as undeliverable may result in disqualification, and an alternate winner may be selected.
20. Participation in the Contest constitutes acceptance and agreement to these Contest Rules.
21. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and local laws and is void where prohibited by law. If any provision of these Rules is found by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unenforceable, all other provisions will remain in full force and effect.

23. For Québec residents - Any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
